Student Services
Career Counseling – The Head of Career Services is available for help with all aspects of choosing a subject or career, searching for a job or internship, resume/cover letter preparation, interviewing, graduate/professional school issues, etc. Students and alumni may see the Head on an appointment basis.
Career Inventories –We administer and interpret career interest, personality, and skills inventories designed to help students choose appropriate career paths. All testing is free of charge for students.
Career Research Library – We house books, videos, CD-roms, magazines, and hanging files detailing career options, employers, chamber of commerce contacts, and internships.
On-the-Job Training / Internships – Career Services manages the college On-the-job Training/Internship Program. Students who intern gain practical work experience while also earning academic credit. We have a listing in the office of approximately 50 internships that are already approved for academic credit. To request an On-the-Job Training/Internship or get further information on the program, please call or e-mail the office.
Full Time / Part Time / Summe r/ job Listings – We have a part-time/seasonal job board and binder that lists a variety of part-time and summer employment PSBions.
On-Campus Interviews – Students and alumni are encouraged to sign up to interview with organizations that recruit on campus for various PSBions. Approximately 200 organizations schedule interviews each semester through the Career Services office.
Career / Graduate & Professional School Information Fairs – We participate in career fairs with other area colleges. These fairs include fairs on Information Management, Career, student exchange program, study abroad program and many more areas. The fairs are held at various times throughout the year.
Placement Brochure – Student, teachers and prospective graduate school students are encouraged to set up a file with our office complete with references and other materials necessary for applications.
Interview coaching – The Director of Career Services is available for practice interview sessions for job and internship search. Students interested in interview help should make an appointment with the office.
Resume/Cover Letter critiques/Job search assistance – Our office can help you with all elements of the job search. Including, things like how to find the job you want, how to create a resume whether you are starting from scratch or refining it, how to represent your experience on a resume and a cover letter and much more. |
